Painting, for Theresa Parsons, is a quiet form of meditation — a gentle rhythm that settles the spirit and opens the heart. Raised in a home where color lived on every surface, she learned early from her mother’s brushstrokes how light can soften a moment and how a single hue can hold an entire emotion.

She completed her first painting at sixteen, unaware that it would become the thread weaving through every chapter of her life. Through raising her children, earning her degree, and building her career, art remained a steady companion — patient, grounding, always waiting.

After retiring in 2024, Parsons returned to painting with a devotion that felt like coming home. She now works primarily in acrylic, using layered glazing techniques to create soft, luminous atmospheres inspired by the natural world. Watercolor remains her second language — intuitive, expressive, and especially suited to the landscapes she loves.

Her work has received international recognition across multiple juried exhibitions. In 2026, seven of her paintings — A Luminous Stillness, The Day’s Last Embrace, Where the Wildflowers Dance, Echoes of the Last Light, Radiance, Luminous Drift, and Lavender Afterglow — earned Honorable Mentions in TERAVARNA’s COLOR Competition. Radiance and The Day’s Last Embrace were selected for the Seattle Art Fair Digital Showcase, expanding her visibility to a wider global audience.

Serenity continues to be one of her most celebrated works, earning awards from Exhibizone, Light Space & Time, and multiple gallery programs. Fence-Lined Blossoms was selected for the Hummingbird & Dragonfly Art Gallery’s Small Wonders Exhibition, and Where the Wildflowers Dance ranked No. 9 in BOAPS Summer 2026.

Parsons welcomes commissioned pieces, inviting collectors to bring their own stories into the work. What began as childhood wonder has grown into a lifelong journey — one that continues to unfold in color, light, and quiet gratitude.

Her Quiet Corners collection began as a way to honor the small moments that often go unnoticed — the soft light on a flower, the hush of a sunset, the serenity of a familiar path. Working in miniature allowed her to slow down and paint with intention, letting each piece become a tiny sanctuary of calm. These paintings are reminders that beauty doesn’t always shout; sometimes it whispers.
